The race car builds off the automatic-transmission-equipped all-wheel-drive hot hatch but receives upgraded brakes, suspension, and aerodynamics.
Toyota is diving deep into motorsport, partnering with Haas in Formula 1, competing in NASCAR, and racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They also support grassroots events like the GR Cup series for the GR86 sports car. Recently, at the GR Garage in Mooresville, North Carolina, Toyota unveiled its latest race car: the GR Corolla TC. This new model will fill the gap between the GR86 Cup racer and the Supra GT4 car, adding even more excitement to their lineup!
The GR Corolla TC racer will compete in the TC America series and starts as a regular GR Corolla. It features the same 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, and GR-Four all-wheel-drive system. The production version packs 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque for 2025. While Toyota hasn’t revealed the exact power numbers for the race car, we can expect it to be pretty similar to the street version. Exciting times ahead for racing fans!
At the GR Garage, where Toyota builds its GR86 Cup cars, the GR Corolla TC racer will get some exciting upgrades. It will feature six-piston front and two-piston rear brakes from Alcon, specially designed MacPherson struts from Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, and dual-adjustable shocks from JRi. These enhancements will help the TC racer perform at its best on the track!
The GR Corolla TC racer is packed with cutting-edge features! It uses a Bosch Motorsports electronics system to handle the drivetrain, power management, and ABS. Inside, you’ll find an FIA-approved roll cage, an OMP fiberglass seat with a six-point harness, and an electronically activated fire-extinguishing system for added safety.
On the outside, the car is designed for speed and stability, sporting a large rear wing, rear diffuser, and front splitter to enhance aerodynamics.
The TC America series, where the GR Corolla will compete, is launching in 2025 and combines the former TCX and TC classes into one thrilling competition. Toyota promises more details on specifications and pricing for the GR Corolla TC race car soon, so stay tuned!
