The full-size replica, which features an electric powertrain, is made out of 342,817 Lego Technic pieces and is the first Lego build to feature fully functional steering.
Guess what? McLaren and Lego teamed up to create an awesome 1:1 scale replica of the P1 hypercar made entirely from Lego Technic pieces! To show it off, they sent Formula 1 driver Lando Norris to take it for a spin at Silverstone. How cool is that?
McLaren’s Lego P1 hypercar is made up of an amazing 342,817 pieces! A team of 23 designers and builders spent 8,344 hours putting it together—way longer than your average Lego set. This impressive model weighs about 2,690 pounds, making it around 600 pounds lighter than the real thing!
The Lego P1 is the first big Lego build with fully functional steering, allowing it to zoom around the 3.66-mile Silverstone circuit! While the details on its powertrain are a bit mysterious, McLaren has confirmed it features an electric motor and uses special Lego Technic Function batteries along with an electric car battery. How cool is that?
In the video, you can see that the Lego P1 has a real electric powertrain under its plastic body. While they didn’t share any performance stats, we’re pretty sure this was the slowest lap Lando Norris has ever done at Silverstone!
