  • McLaren has confirmed that its next hypercar will be called W1.

On September 27, 2024, McLaren revealed that the successor to the legendary P1 will be called the W1. This name reflects their “World Championship mindset” and will be unveiled on the 50th anniversary of their first F1 championship win.

McLaren CEO Michael Leiters described the W1 as the ultimate supercar, blending their rich racing heritage with cutting-edge performance. It’s designed to push the limits and truly embodies what it means to be a McLaren. Stay tuned for the reveal!

Can you believe it? It’s been almost nine years since the McLaren P1 hypercar finished production! The P1 still turns heads today, but McLaren knows they can’t rest on their laurels in the fast-paced world of supercars.

Exciting news: McLaren is gearing up to unveil a brand-new hypercar in less than two weeks! Stay tuned for what’s next in their lineup!

On September 25, McLaren teased fans with a dramatic YouTube video titled “What Makes a ‘1’ Car?” While the clip features exciting footage and familiar faces, it keeps the details under wraps. The big reveal is set for October 6 at 1 p.m. British Summer Time (that’s 8 a.m. in New York and 5 a.m. in L.A.). Mark your calendars!

If you’ve been following McLaren, this news isn’t surprising! They organize their lineup into three tiers:

  1. Sport Series – Started with the 570S and now features the Artura.
  2. Super Series – Launched with the MP4-12C and currently represented by the 750S.
  3. Ultimate Series – Kicked off with the P1 and includes amazing models like the Elva, Senna, and Speedtail.

There’s also the GTS grand tourer, which is a bit of an outlier. Exciting times ahead for McLaren fans!

While the Senna could dominate racetracks and the Speedtail hit impressive speeds of 250 mph, neither really matched the groundbreaking impact of the P1. However, McLaren’s new car aims to deliver similar innovative technology and design as the P1 and F1.

From the teaser video, it looks like the new model will definitely include “1” in its name, just like its iconic predecessors. We even joked about whether it could be called something like “Z1,” but realized that might create a conflict with BMW!
