TRACK LEGEND
The Jesko model range is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg,
the father of company Founder and CEO, Christian von
Koenigsegg.
  • Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh set multiple world records in a single run with the Jesko Absolut.
  • Lundh piloted the Jesko up to a maximum of 256 mph, setting records for 0–250 mph, 0–400 km/h, 0–250–0 mph, and 0–400–0 km/h in a single run.
  • The Absolute is the high-speed version of the Jesko, with vertical fins in place of the track car’s gargantuan rear wing.

Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh piloted the high-speed version of the Jesko to 250 mph and back to zero, taking four world records in a single run.

On Sunday, June 30, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone ran faster than anyone ever has over 400 meters with hurdles. She did it at a big race in Oregon where they decide who goes to the Olympics.

Just a few days earlier, Koenigsegg, a car company in Sweden, broke four speed records with their new hypercar, the Jesko Absolut. It’s like they beat their own best score in a video game, but this time they used a new car model.

So both Sydney and Koenigsegg did something amazing by beating their own world records, showing how much they’ve improved.

Markus Lundh, a test driver for Koenigsegg, drove the Jesko Absolut to set a bunch of new speed records. He beat the time of Koenigsegg’s previous car, the Regera, by going from 0 to 400 kilometers per hour in just 18.82 seconds. That’s super fast!

Lundh didn’t stop there. He also reached a top speed of 256 miles per hour (that’s 412 kilometers per hour!), setting more records for going from 0 to 250 miles per hour and back to 0 in very short times.

The Jesko Absolut’s engine, a powerful twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8 running on special E85 fuel and pumping out 1600 horsepower, helped Lundh achieve these incredible speeds. It’s amazing to think that the car might even go faster in the future!

Koenigsegg planned the record-breaking drive for early morning to take advantage of calm winds and cooler temperatures. The car used for the run had safety features like a roll cage and a seat from another Koenigsegg model, but otherwise it was stock. It ran on special E85 fuel and regular Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

The successful run has Koenigsegg’s CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg, really excited for more records. He said, “Breaking this record showed us how accurate our predictions were for the Jesko Absolut’s performance. It gives us confidence that it can be the fastest fully approved car in the world. At the same time, we’re eager to see what records the Jesko Attack, with its incredible track performance, can set.”
