  • The Maybach makeover encompasses exterior styling revisions, exclusive paint schemes, and tweaks to the interior. It retains the AMG SL63’s 577-hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, nine-speed automatic, and all-wheel-drive system, but the company says it has implemented changes that make the roadster quieter and smoother-riding.

Maybach aims to transform the Mercedes-AMG SL63 sports car into a luxury grand tourer with an unmistakable paint scheme and numerous stylistic and mechanical changes.

Mercedes-Benz’s Maybach is all about going big—more luxury, more power, more style. It’s like the luxury version of Mercedes, with plush S-class sedans, GLS SUVs, and EQS EV SUVs that scream opulence.

But now, Maybach is trying something new with the 2026 SL680 Monogram Series. Instead of their usual large rides, they’re offering an ultra-luxury twist on the two-seat Mercedes-AMG SL63 sports car. So, if you want to be chauffeured, you’ll have to ride in the passenger seat—definitely a different kind of luxury!

Maybach just unveiled their new soft-top roadster at Monterey Car Week, right before the big Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It’s the perfect spot for a car designed for the ultra-wealthy. This roadster will hit the U.S. in summer 2025 as a 2026 model. Maybach’s chief designer, Gorden Wagener, says it’s all about making the most luxurious version of the standard Mercedes model.

To make the AMG SL extra luxurious, Maybach revamped its look. The new version has redesigned bumpers, a fresh grille, and special 21-inch wheels. It also features chrome trim along the sides and windshield, a sleek chrome spear on the hood, and a classic Mercedes star on the front. Plus, it sports elegant fairings on the hard cover behind the seats, inspired by 1950s race cars.

The biggest updates on the Maybach SL are its unique paint colors and soft-top design. For its debut year, it will only come in two color combos: Red Ambience (metallic red) and White Ambience (bright white). Both feature a black hood and a chic white leather interior.

The Maybach SL stands out with its unique convertible top, which features the Maybach logo repeated in a pattern like a luxury handbag. For an extra fee, you can also add this pattern to the hood.

To shift the SL63 from a sporty car to a luxury ride, Maybach has made several upgrades: added soundproofing, a quieter exhaust, a smoother suspension, and extra padding on the seats. The car retains its nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, though it’s gained about 400 pounds.

We won’t fully know how luxurious it feels until we get behind the wheel next year. One thing is certain, though—it’s going to be pricey. Expect the Maybach version to cost around $250,000, making it a truly exclusive ride.
